Nigerian writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has stirred reactions online following a controversial statement about women’s fashion choices.

In a post that has since gone viral, Buchi criticised women who wear very short outfits but appear uncomfortable in them, frequently adjusting their clothing in public.

“There is nothing more clownish than a woman leaving her house wearing something very short and constantly pulling it down when she wants to sit down or when walking on the road. It just shows that you are an id!0t?” he wrote.

The remark has triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some users agreed with his perspective, arguing that people should wear outfits they feel confident and comfortable in, others criticised the statement as harsh and insensitive, noting that it unfairly targets women and policing of personal choices.

The conversation has since evolved into a broader discussion about body autonomy, confidence, and societal expectations surrounding women’s dressing, with many calling for more respectful dialogue on such issues.
