10 facts about Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

The news of the passing of Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, broke on Saturday morning.

The 52-year-old senator was said to have died of cardiac arrest in London.

Here are 10 quick facts about the deceased senator.

He was born on 3rd September 1971 as the first son of seven children to Mr. & Mrs. Alphonsus Ubah in Otolo, Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria.

His parents were poor so Ifeanyi Ubah had to drop of school (Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja).

He had to start learning a trade at young a young age.
He also attended several local and international business courses and seminars in leadership and business management.

Ifeanyi opened a tyre and spare parts export business. His business reached African countries which included Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and DR Congo. He also expanded his business to Europe.

In 2001, he founded Capital Oil Limited.
He also established a newspaper, The Authority and founded Ifeanyi Ubah FC, a Nigerian Premier League club.

In 2014, Ifeanyi Ubah contested and lost the 2014 Anambra governorship election under the platform of the Labour Party.

On 24 February 2019, he won the the Anambra South Senatorial elections under the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), but defected to Nigeria’s ruling party the All Progressive Congress (APC).

There was an assassination attempt on his life in September 2022 on his way to Nnewi. Gunmen attacked his convoy in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State. At least five persons, including two policemen, were killed in the attack.

He was married to Uchenna with whom he had five children.
