The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied reports that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party also dismissed claims of a rift between Dickson and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In a statement on Monday, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, described the reports as unfounded and said Dickson remained committed to the party.
The party pointed to Dickson’s record in the Senate, where it said he had consistently opposed the current administration, as evidence of his position.
The NDC said Dickson could have joined the APC but instead chose to help build the opposition party ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also rejected allegations that the former Bayelsa State governor was working to undermine Obi and Kwankwaso’s ticket.
“Senator Seriake Dickson is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the APC,” the statement said.
The party attributed the allegations to political opponents whom it accused of attempting to create divisions within the NDC.
It urged members and supporters to remain focused on the 2027 elections and support Obi, Kwankwaso and other candidates contesting under the party’s platform.
