The Niger Delta Blue Economy Investment Summit is targeting more than $600 million in investments to develop the region’s maritime and water-based economic activities.
The second edition of the summit is scheduled to hold from March 18 to 20, 2027, in Warri, Delta State.
Organisers say the event will bring together government officials, investors, private sector operators and other stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in the blue economy.
Co-convener of the summit, Dr Uche Igwe, said the investment target would be supported by partnerships and the development of bankable projects capable of attracting local and international funding.
A major highlight of the summit will be discussions around blue bonds as an alternative financing option.
Blue bonds are financial instruments used to raise funds for projects involving sustainable marine resources, fisheries, maritime infrastructure and ocean conservation.
Igwe said the initiative would build on progress made during the inaugural summit in February 2026, with greater attention on converting investment discussions into practical projects.
The summit is expected to strengthen private sector participation, promote economic diversification and create opportunities for businesses and employment across the Niger Delta.
