The Enugu SME Center has once again demonstrated its commitment to digital skills development by successfully organizing the Enugu SME Skill-Acquisition One-Day Masterclass (ESAM), which took place last weekend.

The event, themed “Unlocking the Secrets of Animation,” brought together industry experts to equip creative talents in Enugu with essential skills in the animation industry.

The highly anticipated session was part of the broader vision of the Enugu SME Center to position the state as a hub for digital innovation, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reported.

Participants had the opportunity to learn from top professionals, gaining hands-on experience and industry insights on the growing relevance of animation in Nigeria and beyond.

A major highlight of the masterclass was an engaging session with Mr. Ferdinand Adimefe, CEO of Magic Carpet Studios, who emphasized Africa’s untapped storytelling potential.

He noted, “Africa has great stories but lacks the capacity to tell them. Animation can help fill that gap.”

His remarks underscored the importance of animation in bridging the storytelling divide and reinforcing Africa’s place in the global creative industry.

The Enugu SME Center organized this initiative in alignment with His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to establish Enugu as a leading center for innovation and digital creativity.

Under his leadership, the state has intensified efforts to empower creatives, foster digital skill acquisition, and boost the creative economy.

One of the key figures behind this transformative initiative is Arinze Chilo-Offiah, the Special Adviser on MSMEs & Digital Economy and Director-General of the Enugu SME Center.

Speaking at the event, he highlighted the importance of digital training for young people in Enugu.

“This training provides Ndi Enugu youths with the opportunity to discover their skillset and offer services both locally and globally,” he said.

The event also featured notable industry professionals, including:

Mr. David Victorious, Co-founder of Magic Labs Academy, who shared insights on industry trends.

Mr. Toochi Daniel, Co-founder of Afrochives Studio, who discussed the impact of animation on Enugu’s creative economy.

The Enugu SME Center team played a crucial role in the success of the event, ensuring that participants received valuable knowledge that will help them build careers in animation and digital content creation.

Following the success of ESAM, the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Program (EMAT) has been announced as the next phase in the Enugu SME Center’s mission to develop world-class animators.

This upcoming program aims to provide in-depth training and industry exposure for aspiring creatives, equipping them with the skills needed to compete on both local and international levels.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register for EMAT to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

The Enugu SME Center remains steadfast in its mission to support innovation, nurture creative talent, and drive digital transformation in Enugu State.
