A domestic altercation took a gruesome turn in Rajasthan, as a woman allegedly bit off her husband’s tongue during a heated argument on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
The suspect, 23-year-old Ravina Sain, has been arrested and is facing charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to police authorities.
Police reports indicate that Ravina and her husband, Kanhayalal Sain, 25, had been married for 18 months, but their relationship had been marred by constant disagreements and conflicts.
It is said that a heated argument erupted between the couple, escalating into a violent encounter.
Amid the altercation, Ravina allegedly bit off a portion of her husband’s tongue in a fit of rage.
Family members, who were shocked by the incident, immediately rushed Kanhayalal to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
He was later referred to Jhalawar Medical College Hospital, where doctors are currently assessing whether his severed tongue can be surgically reattached.
Following the violent episode, Ravina reportedly locked herself inside a room and attempted to harm herself by slitting her wrist with a sickle.
However, her family members managed to break into the room in time to prevent further harm.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijraj Singh, who is handling the case, stated that the police were alerted soon after the incident.
A complaint was filed by Kanhayalal’s brother, leading to Ravina’s arrest.
Authorities have commenced a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
They are currently awaiting a formal statement from Kanhayalal, who is still undergoing treatment.
Speaking on the matter, a senior police official confirmed that the case would be pursued thoroughly, and appropriate legal action would be taken based on the findings.
The shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing concern over the rising cases of domestic violence.
