The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force led by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, as well as other senior police officers as currently in an ultra-panic mode, following the upcoming mother of all protests by junior police officers, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) has learnt.

DDM was informed that some junior police officers have slated July 21, 2025, for the massive protest against what was described by a police officer as “slavery in uniform”.

Talking about “slavery in uniform”, the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, informed this medium that the rattled Inspector-General of Police has mandated all Commissioners of Police to use all available means to stop the protest.

The officer said: “Sir, are you aware of the upcoming protests planned by police officers by 21st July 2025?

“All the Command Commissioners of Police have been mandated by the Inspector General of Police not to allow the protest to hold.”

According to the determined officer, the rank and file of the force have sent a strong message to IGP Egbetokun and all senior officers from the rank of ACP to stay away from office on the given day.

He said: “The rank and file of the force send a strong message to the inspector general of police and to all officers from the rank of ACP not to come to office as valuation of the warning.

“We will cause them pain that they will never forget in the history of their life. Nothing will stop the protest.

“We say no to slavery in uniform. We are tired and we are ready to fight for our lives.”

Another officer, who also spoke off the records as he does not have permission to speak to the press, told DDM that the embattled Inspector-General of Police has ordered the arrest of the organisers.

“The IGP has arrested some of our people to silence us,” he said.

DDM contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, over the protest and the reaction of police leadership.

DSP Adejobi, however, has yet to respond to the WhatsApp message at the moment of this publication.

If and when the protest pulls off, IGP Egbetokun will go down in history as the Inspector General of Police under whose tenure the police rank and file took to the streets to protest police high-handedness and insensitivity of his leadership.
