The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has summoned an emergency expanded Zonal Working Committee meeting in the South East, signaling strategic moves to revamp the party’s political relevance in the region.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the crucial meeting is slated for Thursday, July 17, 2025, and will take place at the Sunshine Hotel & Guest House, located at No. 8/9 Ebeano Estate, near the Airtel Office, Otigba Junction, Enugu.

The meeting is scheduled to begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.

In a joint statement signed by Chilos Godsent, National Vice Chairman (South East), and ThankGod Ofoelue, Zonal Publicity Secretary, the party invited several key stakeholders.

These include members of the National Executive Council (NEC), Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) representatives from the South East, State Working Committee (SWC) members, all ADC candidates from the 2023 general elections, and influential party chieftains in the zone.

Although the agenda remains undisclosed, the party leadership confirmed it will be unveiled during the session.

Nonetheless, political analysts suggest the meeting may focus on reorganization efforts, intra-party reconciliation, and strategies for grassroots mobilization following ADC’s low performance in the last elections.

The 2023 general elections were largely dominated in the South East by the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leaving ADC with minimal visibility and negligible electoral success.

This has prompted internal reflection and renewed urgency to revive the party’s structure and presence.

The South East remains a vital zone in Nigeria’s political arithmetic, with high voter engagement and deeply rooted party loyalty.

Any serious political player aiming for national relevance must establish influence in the region.

The ADC’s emergency meeting is seen as a necessary step toward this goal.

Party insiders hinted that other key issues might include preparations for upcoming local government polls in various states and broader coalition talks in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering is expected to be pivotal in shaping the party’s next phase in the region.

All invitees have been strongly urged to attend without fail, further emphasizing the importance of the meeting.

The ADC hopes the deliberations will spark a new wave of momentum across the South East and beyond.
