Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on the final day of the season.

The win confirmed Arsenal’s second-place finish in the Premier League and extended their final-day winning streak to 14 games, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

From the start, Arsenal showed intent, pushing forward to break through Southampton’s defence early in the match.

Gabriel Martinelli’s header was denied by Aaron Ramsdale, who made a rare appearance against his former club.

Ramsdale continued to impress, stopping powerful efforts from Thomas Partey and a close-range shot from Martinelli.

Mikel Merino came close to scoring, but his header struck the crossbar after a fine cross from Martinelli.

The breakthrough came just before halftime, as Kieran Tierney scored in what could be his final Arsenal appearance.

Tierney calmly finished a cross from Ben White, sending Arsenal fans into celebration.

Southampton offered little going forward in the first half but threatened on the counter through Kamaldeen Sulemana.

The winger’s pace troubled Arsenal’s defence, although clear chances remained few for the hosts.

After the break, Southampton returned with urgency and began to test Arsenal’s defence more frequently.

Ethan Nwaneri forced a save from Ramsdale with a low shot early in the second half.

Jay Robinson then drew a sharp near-post stop from substitute goalkeeper David Raya.

Southampton equalized from a corner, with Ross Stewart heading home his first league goal of the season.

The goal lifted the mood at St. Mary’s, giving the home side brief hope of ending the season positively.

Arsenal, however, responded by dominating possession and pushing for a late winner.

Bukayo Saka thought he had scored with a header, but the goal was ruled offside after a VAR review.

Despite the setback, the Gunners kept attacking and looked determined to find a breakthrough.

They were rewarded just before stoppage time, when Martin Ødegaard produced a moment of brilliance.

The captain curled a stunning long-range strike into the bottom corner to secure the win for Arsenal.

The victory capped a strong campaign for Mikel Arteta’s side and reinforced their consistency and growth this season.

Arsenal’s 14th consecutive final-day league win highlighted the team’s commitment and fighting spirit.

For Southampton, the loss marked a record 30th Premier League defeat, concluding a disastrous campaign.

Already relegated, the Saints now face a major rebuild as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Arsenal ended the season with pride, while Southampton look ahead to a challenging road to recovery.

The curtain falls with contrasting emotions, triumph for Arsenal, despair for Southampton.
