Mikel Arteta is ready to make a major move in the January transfer window, with the Arsenal manager prepared to sanction an £83 million deal for Viktor Gyokeres.

After a series of key injuries, Mikel has confirmed that the club is actively looking to strengthen its squad.

With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Ethan Nwaneri all sidelined.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that Arteta is keen to bring in fresh talent to keep Arsenal’s season on track.

The recent injury setbacks have left Mikel searching for solutions in the transfer market.

While the club has been cautious about spending large sums in the past, Arteta is now willing to meet Gyokeres’ €100 million (£83 million) release clause.

Reports indicate that Mikel sees the Sporting forward as an ideal addition to his squad.

With Gyokeres’ impressive form—scoring 32 goals in 30 appearances this season—Arteta is determined to secure the striker’s services.

Gyokeres has also attracted interest from several top European clubs, but Mikel is hopeful that Arsenal can convince him to make the move to North London.

The 26-year-old has previously stated his desire to play for one of Europe’s elite teams, and Arteta believes Arsenal fits that description.

While Arteta has also shown interest in other forwards, such as Alexander Isak and Jonathan David, both players are unlikely to move this month.

Sources indicate that their current clubs, Newcastle United and Lille, are unwilling to sell in January.

This leaves Mikel focusing on Gyokeres, whose release clause offers a clear path for Arsenal to secure his signing.

The situation now depends largely on the player and Sporting, but Arteta is optimistic about striking a deal.

With injuries depleting his attacking options, Arteta is prioritizing the acquisition of a new forward.

Strengthening the squad is crucial to maintaining Arsenal’s competitiveness across all competitions.

If Arteta successfully brings Gyokeres to Arsenal, it would not only fill an immediate need but also send a strong message about the club’s ambitions for the second half of the season.
