Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, says he is still a member of the APC.

He revealed this in an interview as gathered by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), where he discussed his current relationship with the party.

Lawal noted that he has been excluded from party activities and is no longer invited to APC meetings.

He explained that there is no communication between him and the party leadership anymore.

According to him, they do not speak to each other or collaborate in any political capacity.

Despite this distance, Lawal said no one has officially removed him from the APC.

He emphasized that he has not resigned or been expelled from the party.

Lawal stressed that his support for Peter Obi in the last election was not a defection.

He admitted to campaigning vigorously and giving his full energy to Obi’s presidential bid.

However, he maintained that he never joined another political party during or after the elections.

“I have not joined any other party,” Lawal said during the interview.

“Even when I worked fully for Peter Obi, I remained in the APC,” he added.

Lawal disclosed that he is now part of a movement forming a new political party in Nigeria.

He did not reveal full details of this political movement or name the people involved.

He confirmed that the effort to form a new party is already in progress.

Still, he reiterated that he remains technically a member of the APC for now.

Lawal also spoke about his influence in his home state, Adamawa.

He said the people of Adamawa are familiar with his capacity and political strength.

According to him, he does not seek elective positions but prefers supporting credible candidates.

He explained that when he supports someone, he commits fully with his energy and resources.

Lawal added that his political strength lies in his ability to influence decisions and mobilize people.

“I support those I believe in with all my energy,” he said.

“I don’t contest for positions; I support candidates I trust,” he further stated.

Lawal’s comments come as political realignment continues to shape Nigeria’s political landscape.

His involvement in a new movement suggests dissatisfaction with the current party system.

Despite the silence from APC leaders, Lawal remains an active political player.

His next moves may significantly impact Nigeria’s political future.
