Bandit kingpin Malam, 4 others killed, buried in shallow grave

Five suspected bandits, including a notorious kingpin known as “Malam,” have been killed by troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, during an offensive along the Kandamba-Faskari Road.
This was disclosed by counter-insurgency and security expert, Mr. Zagazola Makama.
He said the killing unfolded over a weeklong confrontation with the armed criminals.
According to Makama, the insurgents hurriedly buried five of their fallen fighters in a shallow grave before fleeing the scene with others wounded during the firefight.
Subsequent pursuit by security forces led to the discovery of the shallow grave where the bodies had been dumped.
Before his death, Malam had long been a central figure in terrorizing parts of Katsina State, particularly across Sabuwa, Dandume, Funtua, and Faskari Local Government Areas.
His gang was reportedly behind numerous violent crimes, including abductions, livestock theft, and repeated assaults on rural settlements.
Military sources confirmed that operations remain active in the area, with troops continuing their sweep in search of fleeing members of the group.
