BREAKING: ECOBANK shuts down branches nationwide

Published

on

Ecobank Plc has announced the indefinite closure of all its branches across Nigeria.

The bank made this announcement in a statement released on Friday, citing recent developments in the country as the reason for this decision.

The statement reads: “Due to recent developments, all our branches nationwide will be closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.”

Ecobank encouraged customers to use their alternative channels, which remain available 24/7 for all banking needs.

These channels include Ecobank Online, the Ecobank Mobile App, *326#, Omnilite, OmniPlus, as well as their Cards and ATMs.

This development comes amidst growing unrest and protests in Nigeria, with demonstrators demanding better governance and economic conditions.

The protests have led to clashes with security forces, resulting in injuries and fatalities.

Ecobank’s decision to shut down its branches may be seen as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of its staff and customers.

The bank’s move is likely to cause inconvenience to its customers, but the alternative channels provided should help mitigate the impact.

It remains to be seen how long this closure will last.
