Enugu, Nigeria – Amid growing tensions and internal divisions within the Labour Party in Enugu State, a senior party leader, Dr. John Nwokeabia, has called for unity and peace among members.

He expressed concern over the rising wave of personal attacks, threats, and factional disagreements, warning that such conflicts could derail the party’s mission of securing good governance through electoral victory, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reviled.

Dr. Nwokeabia, a key figure in the Labour Party and former deputy governorship candidate, emphasized that internal strife among supporters of various national leaders is weakening the party’s strength.

He urged members to prioritize unity over personal interests, reminding them that the party’s success depends on its ability to work together despite differences.

“Our strength lies in unity in diversity,” he said.

“The divisions fueled by personal agendas can only lead to our downfall.

It is crucial that we put aside our differences and work towards a common purpose.”

The Labour Party leader also called for respect towards party executives and elected members, discouraging the use of social media as a battleground for internal conflicts.

He urged members to use established party structures for resolving disputes, warning that misinformation could further damage the party’s reputation.

Reaffirming support for the party’s national leader, Dr. Peter Obi, Dr. Nwokeabia reminded party members of Obi’s consistent advocacy for peaceful conflict resolution.

He encouraged all supporters, particularly the “Obidient” movement, to follow Obi’s example by promoting dialogue and cooperation rather than engaging in destructive confrontations.

“Our focus should be on rebuilding and repositioning the Labour Party for electoral success,” he stated.

“We must not allow internal divisions to distract us from our shared goal.

The people of Enugu State deserve a strong and united party that can deliver good governance.”

In his appeal, Dr. Nwokeabia urged aggrieved members to exercise caution and restraint, warning against actions that could deepen the party’s internal crisis.

He called for mutual respect and understanding, stressing that unity is key to achieving political success in the state.

To address the ongoing issues, he announced plans to collaborate with other Labour Party elders, stakeholders, and Obidient members in the coming days to mediate and reconcile the warring factions.

According to him, healing the party will take time, but with collective effort and commitment, unity can be restored.

The Labour Party in Enugu has witnessed growing internal conflicts in recent months, with factions emerging over differences in leadership and strategic direction.

However, with Dr. Nwokeabia’s renewed call for peace, party members are hopeful that efforts toward reconciliation will strengthen their chances in future elections.

He concluded by urging all members to put the interests of Enugu State and the Labour Party above personal grievances, working together for a brighter political future.
