COPDEM people’s parliament set for heated political debate
DDM News

The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) is organizing another session of its interactive forum, the People’s Parliament.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that this platform allows citizens, political analysts, and activists to engage in discussions on significant national and political issues.
Political issues often encompass a wide range of topics, including governance, public policies, international relations, and societal challenges, all of which can have significant impacts on local and global scales.
COPDEM is committed to promoting democracy, electoral reforms, and political accountability through public dialogue and advocacy efforts.
The upcoming session will take place on March 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM Nigeria Time, via Zoom.
Two major trending topics will be discussed during the event.
The first topic focuses on a petition seeking to recall Senate Committee Chairman Neda Imasuen over his role in a political controversy.
Edo constituents have accused Imasuen of working against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in an ongoing political dispute.
Senator Natasha is a well-known politician and advocate for good governance in Nigeria.
Her supporters argue that Imasuen actively undermined her influence within the Senate Committee.
They claim that his actions weakened her legislative contributions and political standing.
As a result, some constituents in Edo State have submitted a petition demanding his removal.
The second topic addresses the lynching of 16 alleged kidnappers in Uromi, Edo State.
The incident has sparked national debates about mob justice and the failure of the legal system.
Many legal experts and human rights advocates have condemned the killings.
They argue that every suspect deserves a fair trial under Nigerian law.
This discussion will examine the social and legal implications of the event.
COPDEM encourages citizens, political stakeholders, and civil society members to participate.
The event will be held via Zoom, and interested participants can join using the details below.
