English boy, age 12, scores maximum 162 in IQ test
Rory Bidwell, a 12-year-old boy from Great Torrington, Devon, England, has made headlines after scoring the maximum in an IQ test and joining the ranks of Mensa.
Rory aced the Cattell III B test with a score of 162, which is above what is believed to be a score of 160 for Albert Einstein and in the top 2% of the population.
Despite his impressive intelligence, Rory is also a passionate sportsman and has a love for football.
In an interview, Rory expressed his desire to pursue a career in football and his love for the sport.
He has been playing since he was five years old and turns out for a local team. Rory also enjoys being creative and thinking of different ways to solve problems, especially in math.
Rory’s mother, Abi, who also took the test and got a very respectable score of 129, said that she has always known that Rory is a special boy.
She picked him forward for the test to confirm his intelligence, and she was amazed by his results.
Abi also emphasized that Rory has an incredible heart and spends his time doing what he enjoys, whether that’s playing sports or gaming.
Mensa, the organization that administers the IQ test, said that anyone who registers an IQ score that places them in the top 2% of the population has done remarkably well, and Rory has shown great potential.
The average adult has an IQ of 100, while a score above 140 is considered to be that of a genius, the maximum possible score is 161 for adults, and 162 for under-18s.
It’s heartening to see someone as young as Rory excel in both academics and sports.
His story is a testament to the fact that intelligence and athleticism are not mutually exclusive.
