African football legend Samuel Eto’o has been questioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over match-fixing allegations, just ten months after he was accused of involvement in manipulating matches.

The interrogation took place behind closed doors, with no word on how he pleaded.

The allegations suggest that Eto’o irregularly helped a Cameroonian club rise to the top of the league two years ago, with evidence supplied to CAF.

If found guilty, Eto’o faces a lifetime suspension from football, a devastating blow to his career.

The match-fixing charge is not the only issue bothering Eto’o, as he also faces a complaint lodged with FIFA citing unethical behavior over an ambassadorial deal he secured with a sports betting company.

Eto’o, elected head of Cameroon’s football federation in December 2021, has denied any wrongdoing, but the allegations have cast a shadow over his illustrious career.

The investigation’s outcome will have significant implications for African football, as the continent waits with bated breath for the verdict on one of its most beloved sons.
