Gunmen have assassinated a Councilor, Mr Nelson Sylvester, member representing Eha-Ulo ward, in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, Enugu State.
The lawmaker News Band gathered, was killed by the gunmen on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah community.
Though, details of the incident at the time of filing this report are still sketchy, but a source said that the gunmen invaded the lawmaker’s home and rained barrage of bullets on him.
The source further added that the Councilor during the vicious attack scampered for safety into a neighbouring compound, from where his lifeless body was later recovered.
The development however, has sparked tension in the town and other neighbouring communities.
Meanwhile, Enugu State police command has not issued a statement in respect to the unfortunate incident.
