Gunmen disguised as EFCC operatives abduct ten guests from hotel in Niger State
DDM News

Gunmen pretending to be Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives have reportedly kidnapped ten people from White Hill Hotel.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the incident occurred at White Hill Hotel on Shiroro Road in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the gunmen attacked the hotel at around 4:58 a.m. on February 27.
They disguised themselves as EFCC personnel conducting an official operation, deceiving hotel staff and guests into believing it was legitimate.
The criminals first disabled the hotel’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to prevent any evidence of their activities.
After disabling the cameras, they moved from room to room, forcefully abducting ten guests before fleeing to an unknown location.
The incident has raised concerns about criminals impersonating EFCC operatives to carry out abductions and other illegal activities.
The EFCC, Nigeria’s leading anti-corruption agency, is frequently impersonated by criminals to deceive unsuspecting citizens and commit crimes.
The assistant commissioner of police, State Intelligence Department (ACP SID), confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track the kidnappers.
Security forces are working to identify the criminals and locate the abducted victims for a possible rescue operation.
Residents have expressed fears that criminals impersonating EFCC operatives could damage public trust in the agency.
An eyewitness stated that the gunmen acted with so much confidence that nobody initially suspected anything unusual.
“This is not the first time criminals have disguised themselves as EFCC personnel to commit crimes,” a security analyst said.
The EFCC has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident but is reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
Security experts suggest that the EFCC and other law enforcement agencies should implement stricter verification measures to prevent impersonation.
Hotels and businesses are being urged to enhance security measures to prevent unauthorized individuals from posing as EFCC officials.
A hotel staff member, who requested anonymity, described the attack as a terrifying experience for both employees and guests.
“We thought it was an EFCC raid, but when they started abducting guests, we knew something was wrong,” he said.
The public is being advised to remain cautious and verify the identities of individuals claiming to be EFCC operatives.
Authorities are also encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities or individuals impersonating EFCC officials to law enforcement.
Security concerns continue to grow in Nigeria, especially in the North-Central region, where kidnappings have become increasingly common.
The Niger State government has assured residents that efforts are being intensified to address the growing security challenges.
Law enforcement agencies are working together to track down the suspects and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
Families of the abducted victims remain in distress, hoping for a quick resolution and the safe return of their loved ones.
Security experts warn that criminals exploiting the EFCC’s identity could cause further damage to public trust in law enforcement.
Stakeholders are calling for increased collaboration between security agencies to dismantle criminal networks using the EFCC’s name for illegal activities.
The EFCC must implement new security protocols to prevent further impersonation and protect its reputation from being exploited.
With this latest incident, many Nigerians are calling for stricter security checks before allowing access to hotels and businesses.
Security agencies must work together to prevent future occurrences and restore public confidence in legitimate law enforcement operations.
The abduction at White Hill Hotel highlights the urgent need for better public awareness and improved security measures nationwide.
