MAAUN ranked second-best private university in Nigeria by AD Scientific Index

The 2025 AD Scientific Index Ranking has recognized Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) as the second-best private university in Nigeria.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, secured the top position as the best private university in the country, according to the ranking.

The AD Scientific Index published the ranking under the title Africa 450 Private Universities Rankings 2025 on its official website.

In the African category, Covenant University was ranked first, while the American University in Cairo secured the second position.

Mohammed VI Polytechnic of Morocco ranked third, followed closely by MAAUN, which claimed the fourth position in Africa.

The AD Scientific Index rankings highlight the strengths of universities and evaluate their scientific recruitment policies.

According to the index, these rankings reflect how institutions attract, promote, and retain accomplished scientists.

The methodology assesses the distribution of scientists within an institution based on various percentile categories.

Professor Junaid Amin of the African Centre for Research and Innovation hailed the ranking as a major milestone for MAAUN.

“It’s time we overhaul the education system, hire top-tier lecturers, and equip institutions with world-class facilities,” he said.

“I foresee a brighter future for the university, considering its rapid achievements within such a short period,” he said.
