ENUGU, Nigeria — The Igbo-Etiti Youth Forum (IEYF), under the leadership of Hon. Prince Sam Aroh, has successfully carried out an independent grassroots sensitisation campaign across Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area to educate residents on the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
The initiative, which was conceived, funded, and sponsored solely by the Executive Council of the forum, saw members take to communities across the local government area to engage residents on the need to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate peacefully in upcoming elections.
Hon. Prince Sam Aroh, President of the forum, personally led the campaign, addressing residents and emphasising that every vote is a powerful instrument for shaping the future of communities. He stressed that democracy thrives when citizens take part responsibly and make their voices heard through the ballot.
“The future of Igbo-Etiti depends on the collective participation of every eligible voter. We cannot afford to be passive observers in the democratic process. Our PVC is our voice, and we must use it to choose leaders who will work for the welfare and development of our people,” Aroh said during the outreach.
The president of the forum, who has been at the forefront of youth mobilisation and civic engagement in the area, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic reception from residents across the communities visited. He noted that the campaign was a testament to the forum’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, civic responsibility, and the sustainable development of Igbo-Etiti.
Eruka Nick-jnr Chiemerie, General Secretary of the forum, who coordinated the outreach alongside the president, reiterated the importance of peaceful participation in the electoral process. He encouraged residents not only to obtain their PVCs but to come out on election day and cast their votes responsibly.
The sensitisation drive is part of the forum’s broader efforts to promote civic engagement and ensure that the voices of the people of Igbo-Etiti are heard at the ballot box. As the 2027 elections approach, the forum has vowed to sustain its advocacy and encourage more citizens to participate in shaping the future of their communities.
The Igbo-Etiti Youth Forum reiterated its commitment to supporting leaders who genuinely work for the welfare, empowerment, and development of the youth. The group also encouraged every community across Igbo-Etiti to embrace the movement and play their part in building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous local government through active participation in the democratic process.
