Israel bombs Beit Lahiya in Gaza

An Israeli strike in the northern Gaza city of Beit Lahiya had killed at least 50 people, a third of them are children.

Lethal bombardments reportedly pounded the center and southern regions of the besieged Palestinian enclave.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office on Sunday, Israeli forces attacked a multistory residential building in Beit Lahiya.

The building was reported to have housed six Palestinian families who had been forcibly evicted.

The Director-General of the ministry of health, Munir al-Bursh disclosed that children made up about 30% of the Beit Lahiya “massacre” casualties.

He claimed numerous others were injured, and it is believed that many more are buried beneath the debris.

The spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, revealed that the Israeli siege of northern Gaza has been in place for more than 40 days.

He went on stating that it prevented emergency personnel from reaching the scene of the incident.

The death toll is expected to increase over the next few hours due to reports of multiple persons being trapped beneath the debris.

Israel reportedly did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Israel has previously struck Beit Lahiya, causing widespread deaths.

At least 93 people were killed when its forces bombarded the Abu Nasr family’s home in the city last month, source said.

Ten Palestinians were killed.

And twenty others were injured in Israel’s Saturday raid on the United Nations-run Abu Assi school in the Shati refugee camp.

This included women and children as reported.

The aftermath of an Israeli attack on the central Gazan refugee camp of Bureij.

In what it claimed was a campaign to combat Hamas, the Israeli army last month sent tanks into Beit Lahiya and the neighboring towns of Beit Hanoon and Jabalia, the largest of the eight ancient refugee camps in the Gaza Strip.

Hundreds of fighters were killed in those three sites, according to Israel.

However, according to Palestinian officials, the attacks primarily murdered women, children, and the elderly.

It also deprived tens of thousands of people of access to food, water, and medical care.

Source also revealed that it led them to starve to death.

Separate Israeli airstrikes in the central Gazan refugee camps of Nuseirat and Bureij killed at least 17 earlier on Sunday.

“Explosions did not stop” in central areas of the strip throughout Sunday morning, according to report.

Many of those slain, including four children, were members of the same family.

Report added “We saw mothers crying, bidding farewell to their loved ones”.

Newsmen reported that five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombing in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The health ministry stated on Sunday that since October 7, 2023, Israeli assaults have documented the deaths of at least 43,846 Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Palestine’s transport minister Tariq Zourob informed leaders of the private sector that Israeli attacks had caused $4.8 billion in damage to the enclave’s communication and transportation infrastructure.

He disclosed this during a meeting at the Palestinian embassy in Cairo.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Sunday that Zourob stated that there are at least 300,000 tonnes of “solid waste” on the highways throughout the Gaza Strip.
