Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has officially left the APC for the ADC.
The defections were announced during plenary on Thursday after Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read letters from the affected lawmakers.
Two PDP lawmakers from Kaduna State, Umar Ajilo and Suleiman Yahaya Richifa, also joined the ADC, citing internal crises and uncertainty within their former party.
The Speaker further disclosed that Kamilu Ado from Kano State defected from the ADC to the NDC, while Joshua Obika, representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the FCT, resigned from the APC and joined the NDC.
In their separate letters, the lawmakers blamed unresolved disputes and instability within their former parties for their decisions to leave.
Bello El-Rufai’s move is expected to draw attention because of his father’s growing influence within the opposition coalition.
Nasir El-Rufai had earlier exited the APC for the SDP before later aligning with the ADC a political shift that triggered a wave of resignations among some of his former allies in Kaduna State.
Among those who reportedly left alongside the former governor’s camp were ex-commissioners Ibrahim Hussaini, Aisha Dikko, Amina Baloni and Halima Lawal, as well as former Head of Service, Bari’atu Mohammed.
The latest defections add to the growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties intensifying efforts to strengthen their ranks while internal tensions continue to unsettle both the APC and PDP.
