A Rivers State High Court in the Isiokpo Division of the Ikwerre local government area, has issued an interim injunction stopping the Rivers State House of Assembly and Speaker Martins Amaewhule from taking any further step on the impeachment of governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The presiding judge, Justice Ben Whyte, issued the order in response to a suit filed by Mr Fubara.

In the meantime, while the motion on notice is being addressed, Justice Whyte directed the parties to maintain the status quo.

The judge postponed the litigation until November 14, 2023, so that the motion may be considered on notice.
