NDC Mediates Kano Dispute, Rejects Alleged Primary Results Lists

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced efforts to resolve internal disagreements in Kano State following a high-level meeting involving representatives of the Kwankwasiya movement and senior party officials.

The meeting, which took place behind closed doors on Monday night, was convened as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen unity within the party and ensure the inclusion of all stakeholders in its political activities ahead of future electoral contests.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq, the discussions brought together a delegation from the national leadership of the Kwankwasiya movement, the national leader of the NDC, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and other members of the party’s national leadership.

The statement explained that the engagement was specifically aimed at addressing issues between the Kwankwasiya movement and legacy officials of the party in Kano State. Party leaders expressed optimism that the dialogue would foster greater cooperation and enhance participation among members across the state.

Speaking on the outcome of the discussions, the NDC leadership emphasized its commitment to internal democracy, insisting that the party would not impose candidates in Kano State or any other part of the country. The party maintained that all members must be given a fair opportunity to participate in its democratic processes.

According to the statement, Senator Dickson and members of the national leadership are serving as mediators in the reconciliation process, with the objective of building consensus and ensuring that all interests are adequately represented within the party structure.

Party officials described the meeting as productive, noting that extensive discussions were held on ways to strengthen unity and improve collaboration among various groups within the NDC. The statement also addressed reports circulating on social media and other platforms regarding the outcome of the party’s primary elections. The NDC clarified that it has not officially released the results of any primary election in any state of the federation.

As a result, party members and the general public were urged to disregard any purported list of candidates or primary election results currently in circulation. The leadership stressed that any official announcement regarding the party’s primaries would be communicated through recognized channels.

Political observers say the development underscores the NDC’s efforts to manage internal differences through dialogue and consultation rather than confrontation.
