NDDC commences payment of Youth Internship Scheme beneficiaries

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced the placement and payment of 10,000 beneficiaries of the Youth Internship Scheme.
The scheme is a one-year practical skills training program aimed at empowering young people in the Niger Delta region.
“With the successful completion of the selection of beneficiaries and their ongoing placement in organisations for practical experience, the payment of the monthly stipends has also taken effect,” said Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, in a press statement made available to Diaspora Digital Media.
According to the Commission, the selection process was conducted with transparency, diligence, and fairness, and saw over 3.2 million young people register in the database.
“This unprecedented response highlights our youth’s immense potential and aspirations,” Thompson-Wakama added.
To ensure the scheme’s efficiency, the NDDC has established a comprehensive digital repository to store vital information about the youths, including their qualifications, skills, interests, needs, and employment status.
“This data-driven approach enables the Commission to design targeted programmes that address the unique needs of the vibrant and resourceful youth population,” Thompson-Wakama explained.
The Commission also reiterated its “commitment to transparency and fairness, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, guided the selection of beneficiaries.”
The Youth Internship Scheme is part of the NDDC’s efforts to address the challenges faced by young people in the region.
By providing them with practical skills and training, the Commission aims to create a lasting impact and pave the way for a brighter future.
