Senator Ali Ndume has warned political allies of President Tinubu against early campaigns for the 2027 general elections.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports, he issued this warning during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Ndume expressed concern that excessive focus on 2027 is distracting the government from urgent national issues.

According to him, the Tinubu administration still has significant work to do before discussing another election cycle.

The senator said the government must focus on three core areas: security, citizen welfare, and the economy.

He emphasized that any government failing in these three areas cannot claim success.

Ndume criticized supporters who prioritize political noise over actual progress in governance.

He said Nigerians expect results, not campaign slogans or future political strategies.

“2027 is still far away,” he said. “We don’t even know who will be alive by then.”

He added, “Shouting about the next election is senseless when the current mandate remains incomplete.”

Ndume’s comments were aimed at shifting attention back to governance and national priorities.

He urged the ruling class to take governance seriously and avoid early political distractions.

Nigeria currently faces widespread insecurity across various regions of th country.

The North-East still struggles with Boko Haram insurgency and sporadic terrorist attacks.

In the North-West, banditry and kidnappings have made many communities unsafe and ungovernable.

The South-East experiences growing separatist movements and violent clashes with security forces.

These security issues have disrupted agriculture, education, and transportation across Nigeria.

Ndume noted that restoring peace and safety must come before any political campaigns.

He also highlighted the importance of improving citizen welfare through tangible government action.

Millions of Nigerians are struggling with poverty, unemployment, and a high cost of living.

Access to quality healthcare, education, and housing remains limited for many Nigerians.

Ndume stated that these conditions must improve if the Tinubu administration hopes to succeed.

He linked welfare directly with the performance of the economy.

Nigeria’s economy has faced inflation, currency instability, and declining oil revenues in recent years.

The country’s GDP growth remains slow, and investor confidence has weakened.

Small businesses suffer due to inconsistent power supply and harsh operating conditions.

Ndume said without an improving economy, political ambitions are meaningless.

“Three things will determine success,” he stated. “Security, welfare, and the economy.”

“If these fail, talking about 2027 is a waste of time,” he added.

President Bola Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, amid high expectations and serious national challenges.

His government has initiated several economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification.

These reforms sparked public protests due to the rising cost of living.

Many citizens have called for more effective and immediate relief programs.

Critics say the government must move beyond promises and deliver practical solutions.

Ndume’s comments reflect public frustration over the pace of change under the Tinubu administration.

He stressed that political leaders must stop planning campaigns and start delivering results.

Civil society groups and labour unions have also called for renewed focus on governance.

Nigerians want jobs, safety, and better living conditions, not election posters or rallies.

Ndume concluded that leadership must serve the people, not personal or party ambition.

He reminded the ruling party that legitimacy comes from performance, not propaganda.

The senator’s warning may serve as a reality check for Tinubu’s political base.

It signals growing public demand for accountability, transparency, and real progress.

For now, Ndume insists the future of Nigeria depends on action, not political noise.
