Gospel singer Neon Adejo has responded to allegations linking him romantically to Alicia, the estranged wife of celebrity photographer David Martins.
The controversy began after David publicly shared private conversations involving his wife and Adejo, suggesting that the singer had crossed boundaries during their marriage.
Adejo has rejected the allegations, insisting that his relationship with Alicia was based on his attempt to help her and her son, Noah, during what he described as a difficult period.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the singer said he had documentation supporting his side of the story and maintained that he had no romantic interest in Alicia.
Adejo explained that his involvement began after he became concerned about her wellbeing. He said he contacted both Alicia and David to check on them before eventually becoming more involved in providing practical assistance.
According to him, he helped with hospital expenses, food and accommodation for Alicia and her son. He also claimed that he arranged temporary accommodation for them in Lekki Phase 1 after learning that they had nowhere to stay.
The singer said his wife was aware of the assistance he was providing throughout the process, stressing that he did not secretly get involved with Alicia.
Adejo said the controversy has nevertheless left him deeply disappointed, particularly because private conversations and messages connected to the support he offered were allegedly recorded and later shared publicly.
He said the experience had taught him that good intentions do not necessarily mean that the people being helped have the same intentions.
Adejo has now vowed to be more cautious about involving himself in other people’s marriages or personal problems, regardless of how serious their situations may appear.
He also addressed the allegations surrounding David and Alicia’s marriage, maintaining that he had no interest in becoming involved in their marital conflict.
The singer further condemned violence in relationships and said his decision to support Alicia and her son was motivated by compassion rather than romantic interest.
David, meanwhile, has maintained his allegations against his estranged wife, claiming that he discovered inappropriate conversations between her and Adejo. He shared screenshots of the alleged exchanges as part of his account of the events that contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.
The dispute has since generated widespread reactions online, with Adejo’s explanation adding another perspective to the increasingly public marital controversy.
