Simon speaks on why he cannot move to bigger clubs

On Monday, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon who plies his trade in the French Ligue one clubside Nantes, revealed why he is not looking at moving to a bigger European Club.

During an interview with French publication L’Équipe, the 29-year-old attacker stated that he is happy and fulfilled at his current club Nantes.

Simon is one of Nantes’ most valuable players, and as long as he is fit, he is guaranteed a starting place in the team. This prompted the Nigerian to reciprocate with an unrivalled loyalty to his club.

Simon has recorded 13 goal contributions (6 goals and 7 assists) in 23 games this season, to help Nantes to 14th on the Ligue 1 table.

While answering questions during an interview, Simon informed L’Équipe that staying is never a problem when one finds love and acceptance where he or she is.

In his words, “But when you love your club, when you get on well with everyone, you can stay, so it’s not a problem.”

The Nigerian attacker also added that moving to a bigger club does not guarantee a starting place, which can make a player unhappy with the decision.

The Nigerian international who has been a regular for club and country, does not embrace moving to a major European club where he may not featured in the first 11.

Moses Simon also reiterated that he is not motivated by the offer of European football because he has experienced it before.

Simon said, “You can be at a bigger club, not play and not be happy. Playing in the European Cup, of course, is something, I have already experienced, but if it does not come… My job is Nantes.”
