Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has issued a strong warning to TikTok users engaging in the spread of false death reports about celebrities, describing the trend as both cruel and irresponsible.
The actress made her stance known in a video shared via her Snapchat account, where she expressed anger over posts falsely declaring her dead. According to her, the disturbing trend has been circulating for a while, with users sharing her photos alongside “RIP” captions a move she says she will no longer tolerate.
Visibly upset, Toyin Abraham warned that she would not entertain any form of apology or intervention for individuals found responsible for such posts. She stressed that those behind the content should take it down immediately or be ready to face the consequences.
“You on TikTok, posting my pictures and putting RIP if I catch you, I won’t listen to anyone begging on your behalf. Go and delete it and stop. Everyone is seeing it now. If I catch you, I won’t listen. I shall not die,” she said.
Her reaction highlights the emotional and psychological impact such misinformation can have, not only on the individuals involved but also on their families, friends, and fans who may be misled by the false reports.
Toyin Abraham further urged social media users to act responsibly by verifying information before sharing it online. She emphasized that clout chasing and viral trends should never come at the expense of people’s lives or reputations.
The incident has sparked conversations across social media, with many supporting her stance and calling for stricter measures against the spread of false information online.
