Women in Anambra State, under the aegis of Anambra Christian Mothers, over the weekend, took to repairing pot-holed roads after it became obvious that the state governor, Mr. Willie Obiano and his government have abdicated their responsibilities.
The women were seen with various equipments like wheel barrows, shovels, head pans, hoes, et al shoveling up hands and filling pot holes in Awka, the state capital.
Our correspondent, Mr. Odumodu Gbulagu, who observed the exercise said in a piece titled “Anambra women to the rescue”:
“It’s no longer news that Anambra roads are now death traps, and that Gov. Obiano is not ready to do anything about the dilapidated state of the roads.
“The governor is not ready to even deploy caterpillars to the roads as he does every election period, because the people have refused to be conned again.
“Considering Gov. Obiano’s gross incompetence and driven by maternal instincts to save their children from Obiano’s death traps, Anambra Christian Mothers jumped into action.
“They rolled out wheelbarrows, head-pans, and shovels to perform the constitutional role of Willie Obiano.
“This is indeed very shameful!”
