In a bid to alleviate the burdens faced by its citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, the Kebbi State Government has unveiled a Special Programme for Ramadan Feeding.

Under this initiative, essential food items and grains will be distributed free of charge to the people of Kebbi. This compassionate gesture, announced by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, reflects the spirit of benevolence and compassion of Governor Nasir Idris and underscores the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its people.

Furthermore, the government has taken steps to support farmers engaged in irrigation farming by providing free petrol.

This move aims to reduce the production costs for farmers and assist them in increasing their agricultural yields.

These initiatives are part of the broader efforts of the incumbent administration to boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security in the state.

Under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, the Kebbi State Government has made significant strides in the agricultural sector.

The launch of the “Kaura Agricultural Development and Growth Agenda, KADAGE” underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing food and cash crop production, with a particular focus on rice cultivation to solidify Kebbi State’s position as the rice hub of Nigeria.

Additionally, the administration has disbursed funds to the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Programme (RAAMP) for the improvement of rural infrastructure.

This includes the identification and enhancement of 240 kilometers of roads to facilitate the transportation of farm produce to markets.

Moreover, thousands of farmers are actively participating in dry season irrigation farming for rice, maize, and cassava production, further boosting agricultural output in the state.

The government’s support extends beyond food distribution and road infrastructure. Initiatives such as the provision of free fertilizers, palliative grains, and agricultural equipment demonstrate a holistic approach to agricultural development and food security.

Plans are also underway to construct Agro logistics hubs in strategic locations to streamline agricultural operations and enhance productivity.

The collaborative efforts of various ministries, as highlighted in the Ministerial Press Briefing coordinated by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmad Birnin Kebbi, aim to showcase the achievements of the Kauran Gwandu-led administration in Kebbi State.

These initiatives not only address immediate needs such as Ramadan relief but also lay the foundation for sustainable agricultural growth and development in the state.
