Nigerian music sensation Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon better know as Reekado Banks has captured the attention of fans.

In his new post on March 25 via X, he claimed some individuals within the Nigerian music industry are stifling the growth of vibrant talents.

Reekado claims these persons are either demonic or clueless but somehow manage to find the best talents whose careers they harm by making poor decisions.

He started;

“One day, I’ll take an interview to talk about someone in the corners of the entertainment industry,

“who’s either absolutely CLUELESS or plain DEMONIC.

“somehow, the brightest budding talents fall in their lap and either through cluelessness or pure demonic activities,

“they agree to policies that effectively slow these talents down and for some other talents, frustrate them out of pursuing their dreams.

“One day….”

Reekado’s statement is not surprising to so many, because Nigerians who are following the trend of artist label in Nigeria can testify.

In the Nigerian music industry, several artists have accused their management of harmful practices.

While several fans will be speculating who his post might be referring to, it’s unlikely to be a fellow member from his previous label Mavins Music where he became a Music star.

In a previous interview, Reekado Banks shared that he left the label on an amicable note and praised.

However, Reekado Banks is one of the exceptions to this norm, as he shares that he left Mavin Records on good terms.

Tragic cases surrounded in the industry

In the interview with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde better know as Daddy Freeze, Reekado corrected the impression that he left Mavin Records on a bad note.

He started;

“That man took me from absolutely nothing. I wonder why anyone would think it wasn’t amicable.

“The end of the contract came, I wanted to leave and he (Don Jazzy) gave me his blessings,”

While Reekado Banks’ left Mavin Records in good terms , Nigerian music industry is filled with several cases of bitter misunderstanding between labels and artists.

Brymo had once staged legal battle with Chocolate City, Skales and his ex-label Baseline where they dragged each other to court.

Runtown had a highly publicised dispute with his label Eric Many.

We could also recall that in 2022 the music industry was rocked by the dispute between Marlian Records and Mohbad which resulted to the tragic death of Mohbad.

The case of Dapper Music and its signees Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, and Muyeez became the latest in the recurring issues between artists and labels.
