Rising Kidnappings: Three Victims Killed During Escape Attempt in Kogi State

In a tragic turn of events, three individuals kidnapped in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State lost their lives while attempting to escape from their abductors. Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, expressed concern over the escalating insecurity in Isanlu and called on the State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, and the Director of the State Security Services to urgently address the situation.

In a statement titled “Address the security situation in Isanlu and neighbouring communities,” Senator Karimi highlighted that more than six people had been kidnapped in the last 48 hours. Disturbingly, the attempt to break free from the kidnappers’ den resulted in the loss of lives for three victims in Idofin and Isanlu.

While acknowledging the State Governor’s efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Kogi State, Senator Karimi stressed the need for immediate intervention by the Police Commissioner and the Director General of the State Security Services to curb the alarming rate of kidnappings in Isanlu, Yagba East LGA.

The unfortunate incident underscores the urgency of addressing the security challenges facing the region and the imperative for collaborative efforts between government agencies and law enforcement to ensure the safety of residents and mitigate the prevalence of kidnapping incidents.
