Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo delivered one of the most emotional moments of the 2025/26 football season after breaking down in tears while leading Al Nassr FC to a historic Saudi Pro League title triumph on a dramatic final day in Riyadh.

The Saudi giants defeated Damac FC 4-1 at Al Awwal Park to secure their first Saudi Pro League crown since 2019, ending a seven-year wait for domestic league glory and finally giving Ronaldo his long-awaited first league title in Saudi Arabia.

The victory completed a remarkable campaign for Al Nassr under Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, whose attacking philosophy transformed the club into one of the most dominant sides in Middle Eastern football this season.

Entering the final day of the season, Al Nassr knew only victory would guarantee the championship as fierce rivals Al Hilal SFC remained close behind in the standings after an extraordinary unbeaten campaign.

The atmosphere inside Al Awwal Park was electric long before kickoff, with thousands of supporters dressed in yellow and blue creating a thunderous reception for the players. Fans sensed the occasion could become one of the club’s most memorable nights in modern history, and the players responded with a performance full of intensity, confidence and attacking brilliance.

Senegalese forward Sadio Mane opened the scoring early in the encounter after a swift attacking move exposed Damac’s defense. French winger Kingsley Coman soon doubled the advantage with a clinical finish that sent the home crowd into celebration mode.

Despite Al Nassr’s dominance, Damac briefly threatened to spoil the party when Morlaye Sylla converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit and inject tension into the title decider.

However, the night ultimately belonged to Ronaldo.

The 41-year-old superstar once again demonstrated his ability to deliver in decisive moments by scoring twice in the second half to ensure Al Nassr finished the season as champions of Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo’s first goal came from a beautifully struck free kick that curled low into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The strike marked his first direct free-kick goal since August 2024 and sparked wild celebrations around the stadium.

His second goal arrived ten minutes before full time after he timed his movement perfectly inside the penalty area before firing home emphatically to make it 4-1.

Moments after scoring his second goal, Ronaldo appeared overwhelmed by emotion as the reality of the achievement began to sink in. Television cameras captured the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in tears on the bench after he was substituted to a standing ovation from supporters inside the packed stadium.

For Ronaldo, the title represented far more than another trophy.

Since arriving at Al Nassr in January 2023 following his departure from Manchester United F.C., Ronaldo had endured several frustrating near misses in Saudi football, including two second-place finishes and a third-place finish in previous seasons.

Critics had questioned whether the Portuguese icon would eventually guide the club back to league supremacy, but he answered those doubts emphatically by leading Al Nassr to the top of Saudi football.

After the final whistle, the emotional scenes continued as Ronaldo joined supporters in the stands for Al Nassr’s famous drum celebrations. The veteran forward led chants alongside fans while waving club colors in a moment that quickly spread across social media platforms worldwide.

The title victory also strengthened Ronaldo’s legendary football résumé, giving him league titles in England, Spain, Italy and now Saudi Arabia. It marked the eighth top-flight league title of his extraordinary professional career.

Ronaldo finished the Saudi Pro League campaign with 28 league goals, maintaining his reputation as one of world football’s deadliest scorers despite his age. Although he narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot award, his contribution proved decisive in Al Nassr’s title-winning campaign.

The league’s highest scorer this season was Mexican striker Julián Quiñones of Al Qadsiah, who finished with 33 goals, while former Brentford F.C. striker Ivan Toney scored 32 goals for Al Ahli Saudi FC.

Even without the individual scoring award, Ronaldo secured the biggest prize of all by delivering Al Nassr’s long-awaited domestic success.

Football analysts across Europe and the Middle East praised Ronaldo’s influence throughout the campaign, highlighting not only his goals but also his leadership, professionalism and winning mentality inside the dressing room.

The triumph has further cemented his legacy in Saudi football and strengthened the global profile of the Saudi Pro League, which continues attracting elite international stars and worldwide attention.

Attention will now shift toward the upcoming FIFA World Cup, where Ronaldo is expected to captain Portugal national football team for what could become his sixth appearance at football’s biggest tournament.

Portugal manager Roberto Martínez recently included Ronaldo in his final squad for the competition, underlining the veteran forward’s continued importance to the national team despite his age.

With another major trophy added to his glittering collection, Ronaldo’s emotional title triumph with Al Nassr may become one of the defining final chapters of an extraordinary football career that has inspired millions around the world.
