ENUGU, NIGERIA – The Rotimi Amaechi Mobilisation Team (RAMT), alongside loyal members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), convened a strategic political meeting in Enugu on Saturday ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries, as internal consultations intensify within the opposition platform.

The meeting reportedly brought together party stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, youth groups, and political supporters aligned with the aspiration of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as discussions focused on strengthening coordination, delegate engagement, and nationwide mobilisation ahead of the primaries.

Speakers at the gathering described Amaechi as a leading contender for the party’s presidential ticket, citing his experience in governance, administrative capacity, and long-standing involvement in Nigeria’s political development.

According to participants, the meeting also served as a platform to reinforce internal unity within the party structure in Enugu State and to consolidate support ahead of the national convention. Organisers emphasised the need for strategic mobilisation across wards and local government areas to ensure strong representation at the primaries.

Supporters at the event argued that Amaechi’s tenure as a former state governor and federal minister demonstrates his capacity to manage national responsibilities, particularly in infrastructure development, public sector reform, and policy execution.

They further stated that his political record reflects competence and character, which they believe are essential qualities required to address Nigeria’s current governance challenges and economic concerns.

The group also stressed that the ADC presents an alternative platform capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political direction, adding that the forthcoming primaries would be a defining moment for the party’s national relevance.

Political observers note that meetings of this nature have become increasingly common as parties prepare for internal elections ahead of the 2027 general election cycle, with aspirants intensifying outreach to delegates and party structures across states.

The organisers concluded the meeting with a call for sustained mobilisation, unity among supporters, and peaceful conduct during the primary process, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party’s presence in the South-East region.

The ADC presidential primaries are expected to attract multiple contenders as the party positions itself as a major alternative political platform in the next election cycle.
