Nigerian writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has launched a scathing attack on media personality Daddy Freeze following his remarks about the service of songs held for the late Alexx Ekubo.
In a strongly worded statement, Buchi criticised Freeze for what he described as inappropriate behavior at a solemn event meant to honour the deceased.
“Daddy Freeze is such a disgrace. A 50-year-old man acting very shamelessly.”
He questioned Freeze’s intentions, suggesting that rather than paying respects, the media personality focused on highlighting perceived flaws during the memorial.
“Are you telling me you were invited to the service of songs… only to return with a long list of criticisms?”
Buchi further accused Freeze of turning a moment of mourning into a personal platform, stating:
“You didn’t go there to honour your friend; instead, you sat there taking note of every perceived mistake. Somehow, you managed to make the entire event about yourself.”
The remarks have intensified ongoing conversations online, with many weighing in on whether public figures should criticise sensitive events like memorials, especially those meant to celebrate the life of a departed colleague.
As reactions continue to pour in, the exchange highlights growing tensions around commentary, respect, and the boundaries of public discourse in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
