Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, declaring that every resident of the state remains an equal stakeholder in the ongoing efforts to build a prosperous and united Anambra, regardless of religious affiliation, ethnic background, or traditional beliefs.

The governor made the declaration during the Anglican Diocesan Synod held in Ezira, Orumba South Local Government Area, where he addressed church leaders, clergy, community stakeholders, and worshippers on the importance of unity, tolerance, and collective responsibility in advancing the development of the state.

Speaking at the gathering, Soludo expressed appreciation to the people of Anambra for the trust and confidence they placed in him during the governorship election. He stressed that his administration was elected to serve every citizen without discrimination and remains committed to policies that promote fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunity.

According to the governor, the strength of Anambra lies in its diversity, and government must continue to create an environment where people of different faiths and backgrounds can coexist peacefully while contributing to the state’s growth and progress.

“I am the Governor of all denominations, Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers. Everyone has the freedom of worship in Anambra. We are all one people, and we must celebrate our common humanity,” Soludo said.

The governor noted that the world is increasingly confronted with challenges that threaten social cohesion and peaceful coexistence. He warned against allowing religious, ethnic, or ideological differences to create divisions among people, emphasizing that humanity’s shared values must always take precedence over factors that separate communities.

He observed that even within religious communities, differences sometimes create unnecessary barriers, adding that leaders at all levels must work deliberately to strengthen unity and mutual understanding.

Soludo stated that the future of Anambra depends on the ability of its people to work together toward common goals, irrespective of political or religious affiliations. He emphasized that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, cooperation, and social harmony.

The governor also used the occasion to explain his administration’s approach to appointments and public service recruitment, reiterating that competence and capacity remain the primary considerations for selecting individuals to serve in government.

According to him, effective governance requires skilled professionals who possess the expertise, dedication, and vision needed to deliver meaningful results for citizens.

“For me, it is about the value proposition you bring to the table. Most of the people I have appointed are selected because they can get the job done,” he said.

Soludo explained that his administration is focused on building institutions capable of driving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for residents. He maintained that merit-based appointments remain essential for ensuring efficiency, accountability, and service delivery across government agencies.

The governor further appealed to the people of Anambra to remain patient as his administration continues to implement transformative projects across different sectors. He acknowledged that meaningful development requires time, consistency, and collaboration between government and citizens.

Reaffirming his commitment to excellence in governance, Soludo stressed that competence would continue to guide decisions regarding appointments and responsibilities within his administration.

“Whoever can get the job done is the person I will hire,” he added.

Beyond governance, the governor praised the Anglican Church for its contributions to human capital development, particularly in the critical sectors of education and healthcare. He specifically commended the establishment of a new nursing school in Isulo, describing it as a strategic investment that would strengthen healthcare delivery and create opportunities for young people.

Soludo noted that government alone cannot meet all the developmental needs of society and called for stronger partnerships between public institutions, faith-based organizations, and private stakeholders.

He encouraged religious organizations to continue investing in schools, hospitals, and other social infrastructure that directly improve the welfare of communities.

“We are building our own institutions, but I encourage you to invest more in education and health. It can never be enough,” the governor remarked.

He also urged church leaders to remain conscious of the economic realities facing many Nigerians. According to him, while development projects are important, religious institutions should ensure that their initiatives align with the financial capacity of their members.

The governor stressed the need for compassion and sensitivity in leadership, especially at a time when many households are facing economic pressures and rising living costs.

Earlier in his address, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, commended Governor Soludo for the developmental projects being executed across the state. The bishop praised the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, public sector reforms, and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

Bishop Ezeofor also appealed for continued government support for church-led projects, particularly in education and healthcare. He assured the governor that the church would continue to offer prayers and moral support for the success of his administration and the peace and progress of Anambra State.

The synod provided an important platform for dialogue between government and the church, reinforcing the role of collaboration in addressing societal challenges and promoting sustainable development.

Observers noted that Governor Soludo’s remarks reflected a broader vision centered on unity, meritocracy, religious tolerance, and inclusive governance. His message resonated strongly with participants, highlighting the importance of collective action in building a prosperous Anambra where every citizen has an opportunity to contribute and succeed.

As the state continues its journey toward economic transformation and social progress, the governor’s call for unity and shared responsibility underscored the belief that sustainable development can only be achieved when government, religious institutions, and citizens work together toward a common purpose.
