SSS/DSS opens recruitment for secretaries and drivers across Nigeria
DDM News

The State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS), has announced a new recruitment exercise.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that applications are currently being accepted for positions as secretaries and drivers in its various offices across the 36 states.
This recruitment is part of the agency’s effort to boost operational capacity and improve internal administrative services nationwide.
The SSS/DSS is Nigeria’s primary domestic intelligence and security agency responsible for protecting the country from internal threats.
It was established in 1986 following the dissolution of the National Security Organization (NSO) by the Babangida administration.
The DSS operates under the direct authority of the Presidency through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Its core functions include intelligence gathering, counterintelligence, protection of senior officials, and counterterrorism operations.
The agency also monitors and investigates activities that could pose security risks within the country.
The SSS is known for its discreet operations and has branches in every Nigerian state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It frequently collaborates with the military, police, and other intelligence agencies to ensure internal peace and order.
With recent security challenges across the country, the DSS continues to expand its workforce to meet rising demands.
In this latest job announcement, the agency seeks qualified candidates to fill the roles of secretaries and drivers.
Each role has specific eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, physical attributes, and documentation requirements.
Requirements for secretaries
Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 27 years to qualify for the secretarial positions.
Candidates must possess four O’level credits including English Language in one sitting or five credits in two sittings.
In addition to O’level results, applicants must hold an NCE or OND in Secretarial Studies or Office Technology Management.
The certificate must be obtained from a recognized institution, with at least a lower credit grade.
Female applicants must be single at the time of application and should not be currently married.
Male applicants must not be shorter than 1.60 meters in height to be eligible.
All applicants must provide a valid National Identification Number (NIN) slip or card during the submission process.
Requirements for drivers
Candidates applying as drivers must be male and fall within the age range of 20 to 27 years.
Applicants should not be shorter than 1.60 meters in height, as height is a mandatory requirement.
Interested drivers must possess a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) from a recognized institution.
They are also required to hold a Class Three Trade Test Certificate as proof of technical driving knowledge.
A valid Class ‘C’ driver’s license is compulsory for all applicants applying for the driving role.

How to apply
Applicants must submit their applications directly to the SSS/DSS State Headquarters or Office in their state of residence.
No online portal or third-party platform has been authorized to receive applications for this recruitment drive.
The agency strongly warns applicants to avoid fraudsters or unauthorized agents promising job placements.
This exercise is part of the DSS’s commitment to strengthening its workforce amid increasing national security demands.
The agency urges interested candidates to adhere strictly to the requirements and avoid submitting false documents.
Candidates who meet all requirements will proceed to the next stages, which may include interviews and physical screening.
This recruitment drive reflects the DSS’s ongoing role in maintaining law, order, and national stability across Nigeria.
Qualified Nigerians are encouraged to apply before the deadline by visiting their state SSS offices without delay.
