British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said the United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine fully in its war against Russia, despite Moscow’s warning to London over the reported use of British-made drones in attacks on Russian territory.

Burnham made the commitment on Tuesday while responding to questions from journalists during a visit to Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.

“This is the UK doing what it has long said it would do, which is to support Ukraine 100% against this illegal war led by Vladimir Putin,” Burnham said.

His comments came after Russia warned Britain of consequences over reports that British-made drones had been used in strikes on Russian territory.

Burnham said Britain’s support was aimed at helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s invasion and represented a continuation of the country’s long-standing position under previous prime ministers.

“We are providing support so that Ukraine can defend itself, and that’s been the British position all the way through this conflict by previous prime ministers, it remains the case with me,” he said.

The British leader also assured Ukraine that London would remain committed to its support despite the ongoing conflict.

“We are not fair-weather friends. We will be there in Ukraine’s hour of need, and that won’t change,” Burnham said.
