Update on Pope Francis’ critical condition: Vatican says there is slight improvement

The Vatican has released a statement on Monday on Pope Francis’ “critical clinical condition”.
The Vatican press office stated that the Catholic has shown a “slight improvement,” But the 88-year-old pontiff remains hospitalized following a pneumonia diagnosis.
The statement highlighted that the doctors taking care of Pope Francis are still cautious about the speculations, in view of the complexity of the clinical picture.
The statement also pointed out that there were “no episodes of asthmatic respiratory crisis” on Monday, and some laboratory tests indicate improvement.
On Sunday, there was treatment of high-flow Oxygen for the Catholic Pontiff.
But the office has stated that the Oxygen therapy continues, but with slightly reduced flows and oxygen percentage.
According to the office of the Vatican, Francis was “resting” on Monday morning after spending his 10th night in the hospital, but resumed some work activities Monday afternoon.
Vatican sources told ABC News that the Pope has been eating normally, and continuing his medical therapies.
The report also said he is in good humor and isn’t suffering from pain.
“Pope Francis thanks all the people of God who have gathered in these days to pray for his health,” the Vatican said.
Large numbers of Christians gathered at the Vatican on Monday night saying prayers, including the Holy Rosary for the recovery of the Pope.
The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, led the Rosary vigil in St. Peter’s square.
The rosary was broadcast live on EWTN’s television networks and digital platforms, as well as on the Vatican News website and social media channels.
Cardinals spotted were Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, the President of Italy’s Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Francis Arinze, the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments at the Vatican.
Others were Cardinal Peter Erdo, Cardinal Louis Antonio Tagal and Cardinal Christoph Schonborn.
