(DDM) – Warri Wolves Football Club, popularly known as the Seasiders, achieved a significant milestone in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after securing their first away victory since returning to the topflight league.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the Delta-based side stunned home supporters in Katsina with a resilient 1-0 win over Katsina United at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium.

The triumph has been described as one of the most remarkable results for the newly-promoted side this season.

The game remained tense and goalless for much of the encounter until forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma broke the deadlock in the 76th minute.

His strike proved decisive as Warri Wolves held firm defensively to preserve their slim advantage until the final whistle.

Chairman of the Delta Sports Commission, Chief Onoriode Oborevwori, commended the team for their determination, focus, and tactical discipline.

He further applauded the technical crew for their match strategy, which enabled the club to withstand pressure and capitalize on limited scoring chances.

Chief Oborevwori also emphasized that the victory was a reflection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s consistent investment in sports development across Delta State.

He noted that the governor’s support for football clubs, athletes, and sports facilities has created a strong foundation for success.

Warri Wolves, once a dominant force in Nigerian football, had struggled in recent years with relegation battles and financial instability.

Their return to the NPFL has been closely followed by fans who see the club as an important symbol of Delta State’s rich sporting culture.

This latest result in Katsina is particularly symbolic, as away victories in the NPFL are notoriously difficult due to the intensity of home crowds and the demanding travel schedules across the country.

Analysts say that by breaking this barrier, Warri Wolves have demonstrated they can compete strongly in the league rather than just survive.

The victory has sparked renewed optimism among supporters, many of whom recall the club’s glory days when Warri Wolves participated in continental competitions.

Some fans in Warri have already begun to dream of another push towards the CAF Confederation Cup if the team can maintain consistency throughout the season.

Attention now turns to their upcoming clash against Enugu Rangers on August 31 at the Ozoro Township Stadium. The fixture is expected to test the Seasiders’ resilience once again as they face a club with a rich history in Nigerian football.

For the fans in Delta and beyond, Warri Wolves’ latest achievement is more than just three points, it is a reminder of the club’s potential and the power of sports to unite communities.
