World Bank launches legal internship program for aspiring lawyers

The World Bank has opened applications for its 2025 Legal Internship Program.

According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the program offers law students an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a leading international financial institution.

The highly competitive program is designed for law students eager to deepen their understanding of International law.

It also offers a chance to contribute to impactful legal work on a global stage.

Hosted by the Bank’s Legal Vice Presidency (LEG VPU), the program immerses interns in daily legal functions.

Interns will work closely with legal experts and attend high-level meetings and international conferences.

They will contribute to vital legal research and support the delivery of critical legal services.

Throughout the program, interns will gain firsthand experience in policy drafting, legal documentation, and other significant legal tasks.

They will learn about the role of law in shaping global financial systems and policies.

Interns will contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, enhancing legal operations with cutting-edge research.

The program is open to law students enrolled in full-time legal degree programs such as LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, or PhD in Law.

Applicants must be citizens of member states of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

Preference will be given to those proficient in a second language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.

Applicants must have an excellent command of the English language.

The application process requires a résumé, Statement of Interest, proof of enrollment, academic transcripts, and a short essay.

Candidates must respond to a research question posed by the Legal Vice Presidency during the application period.
