Akwa Ibom APC suspends Eket Chapter Chairman, Secretary
Expels Ward Chairman, 'fake' Ward Welfare Secretary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has announced the immediate suspension of Pastor Ubong Okposin and Udia Nku, the Chairman and Secretary of its Eket Local Government Chapter.
The Party also expelled Frederick Asuquo, APC Chairman, Okon Development Ward II; and one Uduak William Nathaniel, whom the party accuses of falsely claiming to be the Welfare Secretary of APC in the Ward.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo on behalf of the State Working Committee of the Party.
According to the statement, the decision made during an exhaustive meeting of the SWC held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, followed “months of SWC’s observation and tedious efforts at reconciling entrenched differences in the Eket LG Chapter.”
The Party revealed that the expelled and suspended persons “arrogantly rejected entreaties for peace, and resorted to violence, character assassination and threats.”
“Documented interventions by the State Chairman and other chieftains of APC were arrogantly rebuffed by Ubong Okposin and his clique,” it was revealed.
The statement divulged that the last straw was those individuals’ purported suspension of Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, the Political Leader of APC in Eket LG.
“The move, masterminded by a kangaroo committee, constituted a clear affront to our Party’s Constitution and democratic principles.
“The biased committee FAILED to prove its claims of anti-party activities and neglect against Apostle Nkono.
SWC has documented evidences of Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono’s intervention and goodwill for the Party.
“The committee set up by Ubong Okposin, operated in blatant disregard of our Party’s Constitution, violating Article 21, which requires disciplinary actions to start from the Unit level. It therefore becomes apparent that the committee had a premeditated agendum,” the statement reads in part.
The party also observed that up to 99 percent of members of the Okon Development Ward II Executive as well as the SWC which Okposin until his suspension, were not officially notified of the purported action against Nkono.
APC also frowned at their “refusal” to exhaust the party’s internal crisis-resolution mechanism, describing it “as not only an affront but a violation of the constitution of the party.”
“Such act of impersonation is an abuse of our Party’s Constitution, and equally constitutes a criminal offence under the Criminal Code Act of Nigeria,” it added.
Furthermore, the Party while condemning “the gruesome acts of threats, betrayal, embezzlement and violence masterminded by Frederick Asuquo” and the “imposter, one Uduak William Nathaniel, a fake Welfare Secretary of APC in Okon Development Ward II”, called on security agencies to bring them and their allies to book.
The expelled and suspended individuals were ordered to relinquish involvement in Party affairs and handover all party assets and documents at their disposal within 48 hours.
“We expect total compliance, as failure or refusal by any APC member shall be vehemently opposed and punished,” the Party warned.
