Service with purpose: Olotu & Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation celebrates 7 years of humanitarian work

(DDM) – The Olotu & Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation has marked a significant milestone as it celebrates seven years of devoted humanitarian service to communities, particularly within Delta State.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the foundation has consistently pursued its passion and zeal for service delivery, leaving an impactful footprint in health, education, empowerment, security, and community development.

The organization expressed gratitude to its partners, individuals, and corporations who have supported its vision since inception.

It described the seven-year journey as incredible and invited new supporters to join in shaping the next phase of growth and development.

Speaking during the commemoration, the Executive Director, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete, emphasized the deep sense of fulfillment that comes with humanitarian service.

He declared that “there is no better feeling than seeing a smile of gratitude from the heart of one uplifted, or those sacred words on marble: ‘God bless you’. It is indeed heaven on earth.”

Recent achievements

As part of its mission to uplift humanity, the foundation highlighted several recent achievements that underscore its commitment.

In April 2025, the foundation registered over 400 Deltans with the Delta State Contributory Health Commission.

It also hosted a Memorial Lecture on the essence and benefits of health insurance at Okparabe in Ughelli South Local Government Area and Otor-Udu in Udu Local Government Area.

That same month, the foundation organized a Memorial Lecture on conflict resolution and community security, engaging vigilante leaders from Ughelli North and Ughelli South in Delta State.

The lecture was held in honour of the 30th remembrance of Late Chief Dr. Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete.

Additionally, the foundation empowered over 40 elderly women from Otor-Ihwreko community through entrepreneurship training and the provision of soft loans.

Students who participated in a debate competition hosted by Class ’92 Old Boys of Government College, Ughelli, also received cash awards.

In remembrance of the late Chief Dr. Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete, the foundation organized a novelty football match.

It also sponsored the Dean’s Cup at the Faculty of Engineering, Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State.

Furthermore, security communication gadgets were donated to communities in Ughelli North and Ughelli South Local Government Areas to strengthen grassroots safety initiatives.

Our journey

Since its inception in August 2018, the foundation has built a track record of service to humanity.

It has provided personal protective materials to the management, staff, and students of Government College Ughelli.

The foundation also carried out free medical outreaches at Otor-Ihwreko Town Hall in Ughelli North and at Okparabe in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

It commissioned potable water projects at Ogbavweni Grammar School, Usiefrun, and Okparabe in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The organization also convened a security and safety awareness conference, training a broad range of participants.

Scholarships have been awarded to deserving students of Delta State University, Oleh campus.

Unemployed youths in Ughelli and Warri were trained in digital marketing skills to boost employment opportunities.

The foundation also established the Chief Dr. Ekuogbe Akpodiete Government Prize/Award for students, presented during the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association Awards, Prizes and Testimonials (APT) and Reunion.

Foodstuff and cash donations have been extended to orphanages such as Rose Ilogbo Foundation and Christ Treasured Royal Ministry in Ughelli.

Over 120 women and youths were trained in fish farming and entrepreneurship skills.

Ceiling fans were donated to the school house hostel of Government College Ughelli.

Educational materials were distributed to students of Government College Ughelli and Eseorphe Primary School in Ughelli.

The foundation also facilitated the registration of over 130 Deltans with the Delta State Health Contributory Commission at Otor-Ihwreko Town Hall in Ughelli North.

Foodstuff and educational materials were also donated to prisons across Delta State as part of the outreach programme.

Our commitment

The foundation pledged to continue channeling all available resources to the service of the people and communities it represents.

It urged friends, partners, and well-wishers to remain united in sustaining and advancing the vision of humanitarian excellence.

The statement stressed that by working together, greater impact can be achieved in transforming lives and communities for the better.

The Olotu & Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation reaffirmed that its seventh anniversary is not just a celebration of past achievements but a renewed call to service, growth, and lasting impact.
