IBADAN, NIGERIA — Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have begun early mobilisation efforts to support the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The move, which gathered momentum on Sunday, April 26, 2026, reflects a growing push within the party to consolidate support for the president well before the official campaign season begins.

Party stakeholders in the state said the mobilisation drive is aimed at strengthening grassroots structures, re-engaging party loyalists, and expanding the APC’s support base across Oyo State.

Leaders involved in the effort emphasized the need for continuity in governance, arguing that Tinubu’s policies and reforms require more time to deliver their full impact on the economy and national development.

They also highlighted stability as a key reason for the early mobilisation, noting that sustained leadership could help maintain ongoing projects and policy direction.

Sources within the party revealed that meetings have been held with ward leaders, youth groups, and women’s wings to coordinate outreach strategies and ensure wider participation.

The mobilisation is expected to include town hall engagements, political consultations, and strategic alliances aimed at positioning the party strongly ahead of the election cycle.

Political observers say early groundwork is becoming increasingly common in Nigeria’s electoral landscape, where parties seek to build momentum long before official campaigns commence.

However, analysts also caution that early mobilisation could intensify political competition and trigger counter-strategies from opposition parties.

Within Oyo State, where political dynamics have often been competitive, the APC’s move is seen as an attempt to regain and strengthen influence at both state and national levels.

Supporters of the president maintain that his administration’s focus on economic reforms, infrastructure development, and governance restructuring justifies another term.

Critics, however, argue that the government must first address pressing issues such as inflation, insecurity, and unemployment to convince voters ahead of 2027.

As preparations gradually take shape, the early mobilisation by Oyo APC leaders signals the beginning of what is expected to be a highly contested political journey toward the next presidential election.
