Ladipo Johnson, the National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has revealed former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo’s assertion about the immense power held by Nigeria’s president.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), Johnson shared that Obasanjo once described the powers of the Nigerian president as second only to that of the president of the United States.

In his recent comments, Ladipo Johnson responded to Waziri Adanmawa’s criticisms of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Johnson, who remains skeptical of allegations surrounding financial inducements, emphasized that while the opposition often faces attacks, the political landscape is highly influenced by the strategies of President Tinubu.

Johnson stated that President Tinubu’s political style is uniquely forward-thinking, noting that Tinubu begins preparing for the next election as soon as the current one concludes.

“The opposition is more focused on internal squabbles and petty infighting,” Johnson remarked, contrasting this with Tinubu’s proactive approach to politics.

He added that, as Obasanjo had explained to him, he had yet to fully grasp the full scope of the power wielded by the Nigerian president.

According to Ladipo Johnson, Obasanjo had once told him that the Nigerian president’s influence ranks only behind that of the United States.

This, Johnson pointed out, could explain the public criticisms against President Tinubu and the APC by figures like Waziri Adanmawa.

However, Johnson maintained that he had no firsthand knowledge or evidence to support the claims of financial inducements, despite acknowledging the frequent attacks directed at the opposition.

In his analysis of the current political climate, Ladipo Johnson highlighted the strategic approach of President Tinubu, suggesting that the president’s political foresight has put him at a distinct advantage.

While the opposition seems distracted by internal conflicts, Tinubu is said to be laying the groundwork for future political campaigns.

This, according to Johnson, is a characteristic of the president’s seasoned political style.

Ladipo Johnson also reflected on the challenges faced by opposition parties, stressing the importance of unity in order to effectively challenge the ruling party.

However, he was critical of the way the opposition often allows itself to be derailed by divisions within its ranks.

“It’s no secret that the president is always planning ahead,” Johnson remarked, acknowledging that such a strategy has led to a more disciplined and methodical approach to governance.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Ladipo Johnson’s remarks shed light on the dynamics at play under President Tinubu’s leadership.

Despite the ongoing internal disputes within the opposition, Johnson remains confident that the Nigerian president’s power and political strategy will continue to shape the nation’s future direction.
