A young woman recently started working in a mortuary and shared a deeply emotional experience that moved many social media users.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), she posted a video on TikTok under the username @nox_keli, capturing mourners crying as they collected the bodies of their loved ones.

The heartbreaking scene highlighted the emotional challenges faced by those working in a mortuary and dealing with grieving families daily.

Reflecting on her experience, she admitted that, despite being a professional duty, witnessing grief firsthand often overwhelms her emotions.

She acknowledged that beyond the routine of her job, there is an undeniable human aspect to death and mourning.

In her caption, she wrote, “One of the most painful things about working in a mortuary. This breaks my heart.”

She further added, “The reality that beyond this being my job, it is about people’s experiences and the weight of their loss.”

“May the good Lord help us all,” she concluded, expressing the deep emotional impact of her daily encounters with grief.

The video stirred strong emotions among social media users, with many sharing their personal experiences of loss and mourning.

A user, @mrs_makhubs, recounted seeing her mother in a hospital mortuary and breaking into intense prayer instead of crying.

She revealed that after the funeral, she became sick, struggling to process the overwhelming grief she experienced.

Another user, @GenevieveSmithh, said she was at the mortuary on the same day the video was posted and almost fainted.

Similarly, @Nomah recalled identifying her late husband’s body, expressing shock and sadness at how cold he felt.

For some, the experience was even more devastating, especially for parents who lost their children unexpectedly.

@Dr Yandie shared the indescribable pain of seeing her baby girl’s lifeless body, saying she had never cried that much.

Not everyone processes grief the same way, as expressed by @sebatjane kgabo, who questioned why people cry at mortuaries.

He emphasized that death is inevitable, believing that people should accept it rather than break down in sorrow.

However, for @sish680, the experience was deeply personal, as she had to identify her boyfriend’s body alone.

She revealed that he had no other family members, making the situation even more heartbreaking for her.

Another user, @mtimande omuhle, shared how she searched for her missing brother, later finding him in a government mortuary.

The video has sparked discussions on grief, the emotional burden of working in a mortuary, and how people handle loss.
