NDLEA arrests female trafficker with cocaine hidden in stomach and private parts
DDM News

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a Nigerian woman attempting to smuggle over 2.5 kilograms of cocaine through the Port Harcourt International Airport.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the suspect, identified as Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, was arrested while trying to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran, with a stopover in Doha.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Obehi was caught on Friday, May 10, 2025, following credible intelligence received by officials stationed at the airport.
She had concealed three wraps of cocaine in her private parts, while another 67 were found to have been ingested and hidden inside her stomach.
Two additional large parcels of cocaine were discovered inside a false compartment of her handbag.
She was reportedly wearing a hijab, presumably to reduce suspicion and avoid detection.
The NDLEA said she was placed under close observation until she eventually excreted all 67 wraps she had swallowed.
Upon questioning, Obehi confessed she initially planned to swallow 70 wraps but could not fit the last three due to physical constraints, which led her to resort to internal concealment.
The incident marks another major victory for the NDLEA in its ongoing battle against international drug trafficking syndicates.
Obehi’s arrest is part of a broader crackdown that has seen similar high-profile seizures and arrests across Nigeria in recent days.
In a related operation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, NDLEA officers arrested a 22-year-old British national, identified as Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer.
The suspect had just arrived from Thailand and was found with 35 parcels of Loud cannabis, weighing approximately 37.6 kilograms.
He reportedly admitted to having prior convictions in the United Kingdom for robbery and drug-related offenses and claimed he was recruited in London for this mission.
Meanwhile, in Niger State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a fuel tanker and three vehicles transporting over 3,000 kilograms of skunk along the Suleja–Kaduna expressway.
Four suspects were arrested in connection with the haul: Christopher Onyema, Benedict Etineruba Young, Chukwudi Ujue Jerry, and Mohammed Abdullahi Danasabe.
Further seizures were made in multiple states, including Lagos, Kaduna, Kwara, Kano, and Bauchi.
In Lagos, over 109,000 pills of tramadol, swinol, and nitrazepam were recovered from two suspects.
In Kaduna, authorities seized 52.5 kilograms of skunk from a commercial bus.
In Kwara, officials confiscated 45,400 tramadol pills.
In Bauchi, NDLEA operatives found 505 kilograms of skunk in a Toyota Tundra truck.
In Kano, 775 litres of codeine syrup were discovered.
Also in Lagos, a suspicious package from Thailand was intercepted at a courier company. The parcel, disguised as a pillow, was found to contain 1.1 kilograms of Loud cannabis.
NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd.), praised the agency’s officers nationwide for their vigilance, professionalism, and relentless efforts.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and reducing drug abuse in Nigeria.
As part of its preventive strategy, the NDLEA is also intensifying public education campaigns through its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative.
These campaigns include school outreach and community sensitization programs in Sokoto, Anambra, Niger, Akwa Ibom, and Oyo States.
With growing international partnerships and strong domestic enforcement, the NDLEA remains Nigeria’s leading institution in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and consumption.
