Police to declare manhunt for Sunny Bigman

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Somtochukwu Nwafor, in connection with the horrific murder and dismemberment of a pregnant nurse in Ogbunike community, Oyi Local Government Area.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the arrest, which occurred on July 25, 2025, followed a tip-off from residents of Umueri village, where the crime scene was discovered.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the young woman confessed during interrogation that she is the girlfriend of the main suspect, Chiemerie Obika Elobisi, who is currently at large.

The suspect reportedly revealed that she was summoned by Elobisi to help clean up the blood-stained room where the nurse had been gruesomely murdered.

Police investigations indicate that the victim, who was a trained healthcare provider, was lured into Elobisi’s home under false pretenses—allegedly to offer medical assistance—only to be brutally killed.

Parts of her dismembered body were discovered dumped in a soakaway pit near the residence, causing widespread outrage and panic in the community.

As public anger mounts, police say the case has exposed a ritual killing network, with Nwafor admitting that she and Elobisi had previously sold human body parts to local native doctors in the area.

A shrine operated by one of the alleged buyers has since been raided, and several human body parts were recovered.

The state police command has now intensified the manhunt for Elobisi, whom they describe as the prime suspect in the ritual killing.

SP Ikenga urged anyone with useful information to come forward, assuring the public that justice will be served.

This chilling incident has reignited fears about rising ritual murders across Nigeria, especially targeting women and vulnerable individuals.

Residents have called on the state government and security agencies to launch a broader crackdown on ritualistic killings and illegal organ trade networks.

The Anambra State Police say the suspect remains in custody while further investigations continue.
